We're getting Wired

For the next two days you will be sparking up your curiosity and getting charged while exploring electrical circuits.

It will be important you share your ideas, actively participate and work co-operatively with your team members in this unit of learning.

WALTs:

  • know different components of an electrical circuit and their scientific symbols
  • how use scientific symbols to show how we have constructed a circuit
  • how to construct a simple circuit
  • understand what happens when a circuit has a break in it.

What is an Electrical Circuit?

Have you often wondered how the switches and electrical gadgets in your house work? Watch the following video to get an idea of how our homes maybe wired to turn everything on.

In the video, it talks about conductors, with your team, discuss what these might be and come up with statement that explains what conductors are and what they allow to happen. Watch the video clip below to see if your predictions are correct.

On our second day we will be exploring circuits and making our own. Your group will need to have a person to video your discoveries, which we will then use to help explain our findings.

Extension:

This week, your group get to choose what type of toy you will make using an electrical circuit. Watch the videos below carefully and decide which would suit your team best. Remember you will need to use your BTBWCB tools to work collaboratively with your group. Perhaps you might need to set some team guidelines as to how your team will work together before you begin.

Have Fun!!!!
